Trump Says US May Strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain Very Soon.
US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States may strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain facility “very soon”, as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high.
Pickaxe Mountain, also known as Kuh e Kolang Gaz La, is a heavily fortified underground site located near Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment complex. The facility contains deeply buried tunnel complexes and has attracted international attention because of concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities.
Trump made the comments while speaking to reporters on Friday, September 4. His warning suggests that the United States could expand its military operations against Iranian targets, despite the continuing uncertainty surrounding the wider conflict.
The US president has previously claimed that American military action has severely damaged Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and prevented Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. However, concerns remain over facilities that are deeply underground and potentially difficult to destroy.
Pickaxe Mountain has become a particularly significant target because of its depth and the protection provided by the surrounding mountain. International inspectors have not had access to the site, leaving uncertainty over exactly what equipment or nuclear material may be located there.
Trump also described the conflict as relatively small compared with previous major US wars, while continuing to defend his administration’s military campaign against Iran. The latest warning comes amid continued military tensions across the region. Al Jazeera reported separately that an Iranian oil tanker off Kharg Island was reportedly hit by several US missiles, according to Iranian media.
The possibility of a strike on Pickaxe Mountain could further increase tensions and raise concerns about the potential impact on Iran’s nuclear programme, regional security and international energy markets.
