Russia Strikes Cargo Vessels And Steel Plants Across Ukraine.
Russian forces have carried out a series of strikes against industrial and manufacturing facilities across Ukraine, including major steel plants and cargo vessels, according to Russia’s Defence Ministry.
Russia said its forces struck Zaporizhstal, one of Ukraine’s major steelmakers, in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia. Moscow also reported attacks on an Interpipe Steel complex in Dnipro and several industrial plants in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Russian Defence Ministry also said that two cargo vessels were hit overnight at the Black Sea port of Chornomorsk. The strikes add to concerns over the safety of Ukraine’s ports and commercial shipping routes, which remain important for the country’s economy and international trade.
The latest Russian attacks followed Ukrainian drone strikes on industrial facilities in Russia’s Samara region. Ukraine’s General Staff said one drone struck the Togliattikauchuk plant, which produces synthetic rubber and fuel additives used in products including fuel for Russian missiles.
Russia claimed its forces had downed 230 Ukrainian drones overnight across more than a dozen Russian regions, as well as over Crimea and parts of the Black Sea and Azov Sea. Local authorities also reported damage to residential buildings and injuries following some of the attacks.
The wider conflict continues to see both sides targeting critical infrastructure. Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukraine’s power grid, defence facilities and logistics networks, while Ukraine has expanded its long-range drone campaign against Russian oil refineries and other industrial sites in an effort to disrupt Moscow’s war economy.
The latest escalation also comes amid continuing diplomatic uncertainty. Zelenskyy has said he would be willing to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during the G20 summit in Florida in December if both leaders are invited. Meanwhile, deadly Russian strikes in Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions have continued, with civilian deaths and injuries reported in recent days.
