LIVE: Baby dies in flooded Gaza tent; Israeli attack kills woman in Jabalia

A baby girl from a displaced Palestinian family died overnight in a flooded tent as severe weather continues to batter the Gaza Strip. Her mother told Al Jazeera that relentless rain and cold overwhelmed their shelter, saying she discovered her infant “motionless” after temperatures dropped through the night.
Emergency workers told Al Jazeera that an Israeli strike in northern Gaza has killed at least one woman and left several others wounded as fighting continues across the enclave.
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese said thousands of Palestinians have been left exposed to freezing temperatures and worsening hunger as Storm Byron brings rain, flooding and high winds to areas where displaced families are sheltering.
According to Gaza health authorities, at least 70,369 Palestinians have been killed and 171,069 wounded since Israel launched its military offensive in October 2023. Israeli officials say the October 7 attacks killed 1,139 people in Israel, with around 200 taken captive.
