Armed Man Arrested At Trump National Golf Club Ahead Of Presidential Visit
An armed man has been arrested after allegedly monitoring security at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles before President Trump's scheduled visit.
The suspect, identified by authorities as Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, was detained on Sunday at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, two days before President Trump was expected to attend a Republican National Committee fundraising event at the course. Deputies said he was seen taking photographs and videos while appearing to observe security preparations.
When officers searched Taele, they found a 16 round magazine loaded with hollow point ammunition in his pocket. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber, along with another loaded magazine.
Investigators later executed a search warrant at the suspect's home in Downey, where they recovered an illegally modified AR style rifle, another pistol, body armour, high capacity magazines, large quantities of ammunition, radio signal devices, and notebooks containing what authorities described as concerning statements.
Taele has been charged with multiple offences, including carrying a concealed firearm, possession of prohibited ammunition, illegal firearms offences, and a separate second degree robbery allegation linked to an earlier investigation. He pleaded not guilty, and bail was set at 250,000 dollars.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the US Secret Service are jointly investigating the incident. Officials said there is currently no confirmed credible threat to the President or the public, although the investigation remains ongoing.
The arrest comes amid heightened security surrounding President Trump's public appearances following previous assassination attempts and other security incidents in recent years. Authorities said additional charges could be filed depending on the outcome of the continuing investigation.
