Plans Revealed for Cumbria’s First Taco Bell Restaurant in Carlisle
A major international fast-food brand could soon arrive in Cumbria as plans have been unveiled for the county’s first Taco Bell restaurant in Carlisle.
The proposal involves transforming a vacant Pizza Hut unit located at a retail park in the city into a new Taco Bell outlet. If approved, it would mark the chain’s first presence in Cumbria, expanding its footprint further across the north of England.
According to planning documents, the new restaurant would feature indoor seating for more than 40 diners, along with a redesigned layout to accommodate the brand’s signature Mexican-inspired menu. The plans also include improvements to the exterior of the building and the addition of outdoor seating space.
The application has been submitted for consideration by Cumberland Council, which will decide whether the development can proceed. If given the green light, the project is expected to bring new life to a previously empty retail unit and create additional local job opportunities.
The arrival of Taco Bell in Carlisle would add to the growing range of international food chains in the area, reflecting ongoing changes in the city’s retail and dining landscape.
Local residents and businesses are now waiting for the council’s decision, which will determine whether Cumbria will officially welcome its first Taco Bell restaurant.
