Walney Man Caught Trying to Dispose of Cocaine in Pub Bathrooms After A590 Crash

A Walney resident appeared in court after trying to get rid of cocaine in the toilets of a local pub following a crash on the A590. The incident occurred when police arrived at the scene of a collision and discovered the man attempting to dispose of the drugs.
Witnesses and police officers gave evidence that the defendant was seen heading towards the pub with a quantity of cocaine shortly after the road traffic accident. CCTV footage later confirmed his actions in the pub toilets where he tried to flush the illegal substance away as officers approached.
Emergency services had been called to the A590 crash after a vehicle was involved in a collision with another car. While no serious injuries were reported at the time, attention quickly shifted to the behaviour of the Walney man who was found to be in possession of Class A drugs.
Police charged the man with possession of cocaine and obstructing justice by attempting to destroy evidence. In court, prosecutors said the disposal effort was a clear attempt to evade law enforcement and avoid responsibility for the drugs. The defence did not contest the basic facts but sought to mitigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and subsequent actions.
Magistrates adjourned the case for sentencing and ordered a probation report to assess the impact of the defendant’s conduct. The man remains on bail pending his next court appearance.
