Police Escort Oversized Vehicle Through Cumbria, Drivers Advised to Expect Delays
Drivers across Cumbria have been warned to prepare for traffic delays as a large abnormal load is transported through the region under police escort.
According to local authorities, the convoy is scheduled to depart at around 9:00am, travelling along the M6 motorway from Junction 44 near Carlisle to Junction 40 at Penrith. From there, the vehicle will continue westbound via the A66 and A595, eventually reaching the Sellafield nuclear site in West Cumbria.
Police have stated that while efforts will be made to allow queued traffic to pass when possible, motorists should still anticipate delays along the route. The slow-moving nature of the oversized load and necessary safety measures are expected to impact traffic flow during the journey.
Drivers are being advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternative routes where possible to avoid disruption.
