Met Office: Yellow rain warning issued across Cumbria

Met Office: Yellow rain warning issued across Cumbria

Heavy rainfall is expected to cause disruption across Cumbria, as the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning for the region.
The alert will come into force at midnight on Monday, December 1, and remain active until 3am on Tuesday, December 2. The warning covers all areas of Cumbria, including Carlisle, Whitehaven, Workington, Penrith, Kendal and Barrow.
Forecasters say most parts of the county could see 20 to 40mm of rain, while higher ground may receive between 50 and 80mm. In some parts of the Cumbrian fells, totals could reach between 100 and 120mm.
The Met Office has warned that the heavy downpours may lead to travel delays and potential flooding. A small number of homes and businesses may be affected, with bus and train services facing longer journey times. Roads may also experience surface water and spray, and there is a chance of disruption to power supplies and other essential services.
