Kendal Youth Darts Academy Secures £2,500 Support from Community Fund
Kendal Youth Darts Academy has received a £2,500 contribution from the county’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner’s community fund, giving a significant boost to youth sport in the region.
The academy, located at the football ground of Kendal Town, used the funding to purchase essential equipment including dartboards and lighting surrounds. The new gear has helped establish a club where young people between the ages of eight and eighteen can take part in the sport. Since opening, 28 youngsters have joined the academy and begun playing regularly.
Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen visited the academy to watch the young players in action. He praised the atmosphere and the sense of community, saying it was wonderful to see the young people enjoying themselves and socialising with others.
Mr Allen also commended academy organiser Jemma Telford for her dedication and commitment to making the programme engaging and fun for everyone. He explained that projects like this reflect the purpose of the community fund which aims to bring people together, strengthen the community spirit and help keep young people positively engaged. He added that while £2,500 might seem modest to some, the difference it makes to local initiatives such as the Kendal Youth Darts Academy is clear to see.
Mr Allen mentioned that the community fund will open for applications again soon.
