Speed Camera Vans Operating Across Cumbria Today
Cumbria Police road safety camera vans have been deployed across multiple locations in the county today as part of routine enforcement aimed at reducing speeding and improving road safety.
Motorists are being advised to remain vigilant and adhere to posted speed limits, as mobile enforcement units are operating on several major routes, including key sections of the A66, A685, A686, and the M6 motorway corridor.
These mobile speed camera vans are positioned at known collision and speeding hotspots, where authorities regularly monitor traffic to encourage safer driving behaviour and reduce the risk of serious accidents.
The enforcement activity forms part of Cumbria Police’s wider strategy to tackle speeding across both rural and high-traffic routes. Roads frequently targeted include major commuter and transit routes that connect towns and cities across the county.
Drivers caught exceeding speed limits may face penalties including fixed fines, penalty points, or referral to speed awareness courses, depending on the severity of the offence and eligibility criteria.
Police continue to remind motorists that speed limits are in place to protect all road users, particularly on rural roads where collision risks can be higher due to road conditions and visibility.
Enforcement locations are subject to change throughout the day as vans move between different priority areas identified through collision data and traffic monitoring.
