Speed Camera Vans Operating Across Cumbria Today.
Cumbria Police road safety camera vans are operating at several locations across the county today, Tuesday, August 25, as part of ongoing efforts to encourage drivers to follow speed limits and improve road safety.
The camera vans are scheduled to operate in Salterbeck, Workington and Distington, covering areas where road safety enforcement is regularly carried out. Drivers travelling through these locations are being encouraged to remain aware of posted speed limits. Police camera vans will also be positioned along the A595 between Workington and Thornhill, meaning motorists using this important route could encounter enforcement activity during their journey.
Further enforcement is planned around Kendal, another busy area used by local residents, commuters and visitors travelling through South Cumbria. The enforcement programme also includes the M6 between Junction 38 and Junction 36, covering a significant section of one of the county's busiest transport routes. Drivers using the motorway are reminded that national speed limits and other restrictions must be followed.
Speed camera vans are also due to operate on the A6 between Penrith and Kendal, giving the enforcement operation coverage across both northern and southern parts of the county. The locations form part of Cumbria Police's wider road safety work, with camera vans used to monitor vehicle speeds and encourage motorists to drive responsibly.
Speeding remains a significant road safety concern because travelling too quickly can reduce a driver's reaction time and increase the severity of collisions.
Motorists are therefore advised to check their speed regularly, particularly when moving between different speed-limit zones or travelling through areas where road conditions change. The presence of camera vans does not mean drivers should only follow speed limits at monitored locations. Police road safety campaigns encourage motorists to maintain safe speeds throughout their journeys.
