Speed Camera Vans Deployed Across Cumbria as Police Target Road Safety

02 Jun 2026 Speed Camera Vans Deployed Across Cumbria as Police Target Road Safety

Cumbria Police have positioned mobile speed camera vans across several key routes in the county today as part of continued efforts to reduce speeding and improve road safety.

The enforcement operation targets a range of locations known for high traffic volumes and previous collisions, with vans expected to monitor drivers on major roads including the A6, A66, A595, and sections of the M6.

The initiative forms part of the force’s wider road safety strategy, which focuses on deterring excessive speed and reducing the risk of serious and fatal collisions on both rural and urban routes.

Drivers are being urged to remain within posted speed limits and exercise caution, particularly in areas where temporary limits or roadworks may be in place.

Police say mobile enforcement units are deployed in response to collision data and community concerns, with the aim of targeting areas where speeding poses the greatest danger to road users.

The presence of camera vans is also intended as a visible deterrent, encouraging motorists to adjust their behaviour and improve compliance with speed limits across the county.
