Plans Proposed for New Zebra Crossings in Ulverston to Improve Road Safety
Plans have been put forward for the installation of new zebra crossings in Ulverston, with local residents now being encouraged to share their views on the proposals.
The scheme includes the creation of a crossing near St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, as well as another located just north of a nearby junction. The aim is to improve safety for pedestrians, particularly schoolchildren and families navigating busy roads in the area.
Authorities say the proposals form part of wider efforts to enhance road safety and encourage safer walking routes around the town. Improving visibility and providing designated crossing points are seen as key steps in reducing potential risks in high-traffic areas.
Local consultation is now underway, giving residents the opportunity to comment on the plans before any final decisions are made. Feedback from the community will help shape how the scheme is developed and whether adjustments are needed.
If approved, the new crossings would contribute to ongoing transport and safety improvements across Ulverston, supporting safer travel for both pedestrians and motorists.
