Cumbria Speed Camera Van Locations Revealed for End of May
Motorists travelling across Cumbria have been advised to remain alert and follow speed limits after authorities announced a new list of mobile speed camera van locations for the final week of May.
The enforcement vehicles are expected to operate on a number of major roads and residential routes throughout the county, including areas around Barrow-in-Furness, Kendal, Ulverston, and Windermere. Officers say the locations have been selected based on previous speeding concerns, accident data, and complaints from local communities.
Cumbria Road Safety Partnership regularly publishes enforcement schedules to encourage safer driving and reduce the number of serious collisions on the county’s roads. Mobile camera vans are commonly deployed on both rural and urban routes where speeding has been identified as a recurring issue.
Police have repeatedly stressed that the purpose of the cameras is not to catch motorists out, but to improve safety for all road users. Excessive speed remains one of the leading contributing factors in serious and fatal crashes across the UK, particularly on rural roads such as those found throughout Cumbria.
Drivers caught exceeding the speed limit could face fines, penalty points, or prosecution depending on the seriousness of the offence. Authorities are encouraging motorists to plan journeys carefully and pay close attention to changing speed restrictions, especially in residential areas and near schools.
Road safety campaigners continue to support visible enforcement measures, arguing that regular speed checks help encourage responsible driving behaviour and reduce risks for pedestrians, cyclists, and other motorists.
The latest enforcement announcement comes ahead of what is expected to be a busy travel period across the Lake District and surrounding areas, with increased visitor numbers likely to bring heavier traffic onto Cumbria’s roads over the coming weeks.
