Workington Town Respond in Style with Dominant Win at Hunslet
Workington Town produced a strong response to last week’s disappointing loss by securing an impressive 38-6 victory away at Hunslet in the Betfred Championship.
After conceding 70 points in their previous outing, Town came into the match determined to make amends—and they showed their intent early. They opened the scoring within the first ten minutes, as a well-worked move allowed Jake Carter to cross the line and convert his own try.
Momentum quickly built as Alex Donaghy marked his milestone 100th appearance with a try in the corner, again converted by Carter to extend the lead.
Hunslet threatened at times in the first half, but strong defensive efforts kept them at bay for long periods. The hosts eventually broke through just before halftime, narrowing the gap to 14-6.
In the second half, Workington took firm control of the game. Donaghy added his second try before further scores including one set up by a clever kick for Oscar Doran pushed the visitors further ahead.
The highlight came late on when Zarrin Galea capped off the performance with a superb solo try, sealing a convincing victory and underlining Town’s attacking quality.
The result not only provided redemption after last week’s setback but also demonstrated Workington’s resilience and ability to respond under pressure.
