WORKINGTON TOWN PREPARE FOR TOUGH MIDLANDS HURRICANES TEST

11 Apr 2026 WORKINGTON TOWN PREPARE FOR TOUGH MIDLANDS HURRICANES TEST

Workington Town are set to face Midlands Hurricanes this Sunday in a Betfred Championship fixture at Derwent Park, as they aim to continue their push up the table.

Head coach Jonty Gorley has made two changes to his 21-man squad ahead of the match. Toby Gibson and Guy Graham have been brought in, replacing Mason Lewthwaite and Steve Scholey, who both featured in the previous outing.

The changes come after Town secured a 22–14 victory over Whitehaven in their last game, marking only their second win of the season.

Despite that positive result, Workington remain in the lower half of the standings with five points and face a tough challenge against a strong Midlands Hurricanes side.

The Hurricanes have enjoyed an impressive campaign so far, winning six of their opening nine matches and sitting well ahead of Town in the table. Their strong form has placed them among the leading teams in the competition as they continue to chase the top positions.

Sunday’s encounter presents an opportunity for Workington to close the gap and build consistency, while Midlands Hurricanes will be aiming to maintain their momentum and strengthen their position near the top of the league.

The match is scheduled to kick off on 12 April, with both sides eager to secure valuable points in the Championship race.
