Speedway Star Peter Kildemand Backs Berwick Bandits to Challenge for Championship Glory

Former Workington Comets standout Peter Kildemand has thrown his support behind the Berwick Bandits ahead of the upcoming Cab Direct Championship season, backing the Borders‑based speedway team as genuine title contenders.
Kildemand, 36, returned to British racing last year and quickly became a fan favourite at Shielfield Park, helping the Bandits end their 2025 campaign strongly with a fifth‑place finish. With a refreshed 2026 lineup that includes new signing Victor Palovaara alongside Kildemand and Nick Morris as heat leaders, the Dane says the Bandits have the firepower needed to compete at the top.
“I think we have strong heat leaders,” Kildemand said, adding that every rider in the seven‑man squad can “dig in” and deliver both at home and on the road. He noted that while the team finished last season strongly, missing the play‑offs was “bitter‑sweet,” and that picking up where they left off is key to success in 2026.
After sampling British speedway earlier in his career with Workington in 2010–11, Kildemand’s return to the UK circuit and his decision to re‑sign with the Bandits for 2026 has added experience and leadership to the team’s championship ambitions.
With optimism building around the club’s prospects, supporters will be keen to see whether the Bandits can translate preseason confidence into a strong run when the Cab Direct Championship gets underway.
