Kylian Mbappe Stuns Fans With Explosive “Fourth Choice” Claim at Real Madrid

15 May 2026 Kylian Mbappe Stuns Fans With Explosive “Fourth Choice” Claim at Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has sparked fresh controversy at Real Madrid after claiming he is now the “fourth choice” attacker under head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

The French superstar made the statement after Real Madrid’s 2 0 victory over Real Oviedo, where he returned from injury as a second half substitute. Mbappe had missed recent matches due to a hamstring problem and was greeted with boos from sections of the home crowd when he entered the pitch.

Speaking after the match, Mbappe admitted he was unhappy about losing his starting role but insisted he respects the coach’s decisions. He said he now sits behind Vinicius Junior, Gonzalo Garcia and Franco Mastantuono in the attacking order.

The situation has added more pressure to an already difficult season for Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have struggled for consistency and recently lost the La Liga title race to rivals Barcelona. The club also suffered an early UEFA Champions League exit, increasing scrutiny on both the players and coaching staff.

Coach Alvaro Arbeloa later denied directly telling Mbappe he was the fourth choice striker. The manager explained that the forward was only left on the bench because he had just returned from injury and was not fully ready to start.

Despite the controversy, Mbappe contributed positively after coming on by helping create Real Madrid’s second goal. However, reports suggest tensions between the player and supporters have grown in recent weeks, especially after criticism surrounding his recovery period and a personal trip to Italy during rehabilitation.

Mbappe’s comments have now fueled speculation about deeper problems inside the Real Madrid dressing room as the club prepares for a major rebuild ahead of next season. Many fans are questioning whether the club can successfully balance its collection of superstar talents while maintaining harmony on and off the field.
