Kyle Howarth to replace Charles Wright in Redcar Bears clash
Speedway fans are set for a change in the Redcar Bears line‑up as Kyle Howarth has been named to replace captain Charles Wright in today’s meeting against Scunthorpe at the Eddie Wright Raceway. Wright is sidelined with shoulder injuries sustained in last week’s home opener, meaning former Workington rider Howarth will guest at No.1 for the BSN Series holders.
Howarth and Wright have both raced in British speedway for many years, with Howarth carving out a strong career across several clubs and Wright known for his leadership with the Bears.
The fixture marks the first official team meeting of Britain’s 2026 season and promoter Rob Godfrey expressed hope for a good crowd and competitive racing. Scunthorpe have also made several changes to their squad, including new captain Josh Pickering and debutant reserve rider Ryan Ingram, as they look to kick off their campaign strongly.
Supporters of both clubs will be watching closely to see how Howarth performs in place of Wright and how the match unfolds in what promises to be an exciting start to the season.
