Kells Youngster Archie Robinson Signs Two-Year Deal with Huddersfield Giants

22 Aug 2026 Kells Youngster Archie Robinson Signs Two-Year Deal with Huddersfield Giants

Kells rugby league youngster Archie Robinson has taken a major step towards a professional career after signing a two-year contract with Huddersfield Giants.

The 16-year-old, who plays his rugby locally with Kells Under-16s, spent the past two years on scholarship with Warrington Wolves, travelling several times a week for training and matches.

Although Warrington was unable to offer Archie an Academy contract, the young forward continued to train and play with the club. His determination eventually caught the attention of Huddersfield, who moved to secure his services.

Archie is capable of playing at prop or loose-forward and has continued developing his game in West Cumbria alongside his commitments with Warrington.

His father Curtis said the family were extremely proud of Archie, highlighting his commitment to rugby and the wider talent among young players across West Cumbria.

Archie will remain available to play for Kells, who earned promotion to the Northwest Counties Premier Division last season and have reached the Lancashire Cup final this year. They will face Blackbrook in the final on October 11.

Following the cup final, Archie is expected to move to Huddersfield, where he will continue his education at an engineering college alongside his rugby commitments.

The teenager has also represented Whitehaven and St Benedict’s in rugby union and comes from a strong rugby family, with several relatives involved in the game.

Archie's official shirt presentation at Huddersfield Giants is scheduled for September 12.

His father said the family were “super proud”, while recognising that the hard work was only just beginning for the promising young player.
