Carlisle United Sign Worthing Midfielder Teddy Jenks

Carlisle United have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Worthing midfielder Teddy Jenks, with the 24 year old joining the Blues on a permanent deal.

Jenks has agreed a two year contract at Brunton Park, with the move completed for an undisclosed fee. The signing comes after Carlisle made a strong start to their National League campaign and recorded their second home victory of the season.

The midfielder was part of the Worthing side that visited Brunton Park on the opening day of the season. Carlisle were able to see Jenks in action at close quarters during that match before subsequently completing their move for the player.

Jenks played an important role in Worthing's successful campaign last season as they secured promotion from the National League South. He also began the new National League season with a goal, scoring in a 2 to 1 defeat against one of his former clubs, Forest Green Rovers.

His career began with Brighton and Hove Albion, where he joined the academy as a youngster and progressed through the club's development system. He made his senior debut for Brighton at the age of 17, starting in a Carabao Cup victory over Aston Villa in September 2019.

Jenks later gained experience away from Brighton, including a loan spell with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen. He made 24 appearances and scored twice during the 2021 to 2022 campaign, gaining experience of senior and European football.

The midfielder also spent time on loan with Crawley Town before leaving Brighton permanently. He joined Forest Green Rovers in 2023, where he went on to make 35 league appearances and score twice.

During his time with Forest Green, Jenks also had a loan spell with Scottish club Ross County. His experience across several clubs has given him a substantial amount of senior football despite his relatively young age.

Jenks joined Worthing in September 2025 and quickly became an important part of the side. He scored 13 league goals during their promotion campaign and was recognised by both his teammates and supporters for his performances.

Carlisle sporting director Marc Tierney said Jenks was a player the club had identified the previous year. He explained that the recruitment team had continued to monitor the midfielder closely as part of its wider strategy.

Tierney's comments underline the longer term nature of Carlisle's recruitment process, with the club having followed Jenks before deciding to make a move for him. His arrival adds another midfielder with experience of the National League and football at higher levels.

Jenks has also represented England at youth level. He has been capped four times, making three appearances for the Under 17s and one for the Under 16s.

The signing follows a busy period for Carlisle as manager Rob Elliot continues to build a squad capable of competing in the National League. The club had already strengthened its midfield during the summer with the arrivals of players including Miguel Azeez and Harvey Bunker.

Carlisle's latest signing comes after the team moved up to ninth in the early National League table following a 4 to 2 victory over Scunthorpe United. The result represented their second successive home win and provided further momentum at the beginning of the campaign.

Jenks will now begin his time with Carlisle as the club continues its push in the National League. His previous experience with Worthing, Forest Green, Aberdeen, Crawley Town and Ross County gives the Blues another experienced option in midfield as the season develops.
