Barrow remain in League Two relegation zone after narrow defeat

07 Apr 2026 Barrow remain in League Two relegation zone after narrow defeat

Barrow AFC stayed in the League Two drop zone following a 1–0 home loss to Chesterfield on Tuesday, April 7. A single goal in the 62nd minute, capitalised on after a mistake by Barrow goalkeeper Wyll Stanway, proved to be the decisive moment as Chesterfield secured all three points.

Despite some early chances including efforts from Elliot Newby and Barrow skipper Niall Canavan the Bluebirds were unable to find an equaliser. Stanway later made several key saves to keep his side in contention, but Barrow could not break through.

With five games left in the season, Barrow remain next to bottom in the table and face a challenging run of fixtures including away trips to Barnet and Cambridge United, plus home matches against Oldham Athletic, Walsall and Newport County.
