Arteta Expects More Arsenal Signings As Tzolis Impresses In Girona Victory.

02 Aug 2026 Arteta Expects More Arsenal Signings As Tzolis Impresses In Girona Victory.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed he expects further additions to his squad before the summer transfer window closes, insisting the Premier League champions must continue strengthening as they prepare to defend their title.

Speaking after Arsenal's convincing 4-1 pre-season victory over Girona, Arteta said the club is working actively behind the scenes to improve the squad and increase competition in every position. He stressed that continuous improvement is essential if Arsenal are to remain competitive across domestic and European competitions.

One of the standout performers was new signing Christos Tzolis, who scored during the victory and continued his encouraging start since arriving from Club Brugge. The Greek winger has quickly impressed both the coaching staff and his teammates with his work rate, attacking quality, and adaptability.

Arsenal's goals came from Kai Havertz, Christos Tzolis, teenage talent Max Dowman, and Gabriel Jesus, giving Arteta plenty of positives as preparations for the new season continue. Girona briefly reduced the deficit before Arsenal comfortably regained control of the match.

Arteta praised Tzolis after the match, highlighting his direct style of play, willingness to press opponents, and determination to improve. The Arsenal manager said the club would continue supporting the winger's development as he adapts to English football.

Despite already strengthening the squad this summer, Arteta indicated Arsenal's transfer business is not finished. Although he declined to discuss individual targets, reports continue to link the club with further reinforcements before the transfer deadline.

The Arsenal boss explained that maintaining success requires constant evolution, particularly with rival clubs also investing heavily in new players. He believes increasing competition within the squad will help maintain high performance levels throughout a demanding campaign.

With pre-season preparations progressing positively and new arrivals making an immediate impact, Arsenal head into the new campaign with growing confidence. Arteta's comments suggest supporters could still see additional signings before the transfer window closes as the club looks to build on its recent success.
