Scottish Labour Leadership Candidates Warn Against Division As Party Seeks To Rebuild
Three candidates seeking to lead Scottish Labour have warned against division within the party as they set out their plans to rebuild following a damaging electoral defeat.
Monica Lennon, Joe Fagan and Michael Marra used an hour long event to make their cases for succeeding Anas Sarwar, who is stepping down after Labour suffered its worst Scottish Parliament election performance since devolution.
The leadership contest comes at a difficult moment for Scottish Labour, with the party facing pressure to reconnect with voters and establish a clearer political identity ahead of future elections.
All three candidates presented themselves as figures capable of helping the party recover, while stressing the importance of bringing members and supporters together rather than allowing internal disagreements to deepen.

The leadership event was also briefly disrupted by pro Palestine protesters, whose shouts were heard during the opening part of the meeting. The interruption added to the wider political tensions surrounding the contest.
