£500,000 Allocated for Asbestos Safety Work at Whitehaven Civic Hall

While separate work is also being carried out on the venue’s fire alarm system, council representatives confirmed that the asbestos programme has become a priority following intervention by health and safety regulators.
According to council officials, an improvement notice highlighted the need for a more robust and detailed asbestos management plan. In response, specialist consultants have been appointed to review the authority’s wider property portfolio and ensure that appropriate procedures are in place across council-owned buildings.
