Lake District: Ambleside pub ranked among the most dog-friendly in UK
A popular Lake District pub has been recognised as one of the most dog-friendly venues in the UK.
The White Lion Hotel in Ambleside has been ranked third in a list of the country’s top canine-welcoming pubs.
The ranking was compiled by Eat Drink Meet, a website and app that helps people find pubs, bars and restaurants with specific features, including dog-friendly facilities. The list was created in partnership with Molson Coors Beverage Company, the brewer behind major brands such as Carling, Madri Exceptional, Coors and Aspall.
Situated in the centre of the Lake District, The White Lion is ideally placed for walkers looking for somewhere to relax after exploring the fells.
The venue also operates as a dog-friendly hotel, offering seven well-appointed rooms and a full food menu. Dogs staying or visiting are given special treatment, with blankets, bowls and treats provided.
The pub has earned praise on TripAdvisor, where reviewers have described it as a “dog-friendly haven.”
Rebekah Jones, senior customer activation manager at Molson Coors, said a great dog-friendly pub offers good outdoor space, access to scenic walking routes and staff who make extra effort to provide water, treats and comfort for pets. She added that celebrating venues like these helps highlight the importance of dog-friendly hospitality.
With roughly 36 per cent of UK households owning a dog, the need for pet-friendly pubs and hotels continues to grow, making places like The White Lion Hotel increasingly sought after.
Eat Drink Meet’s top 11 dog-friendly pubs were selected for their commitment to creating enjoyable experiences for both dogs and their owners.
