Historic Guy’s Thatched Hamlet in Bilsborrow Could Reopen Under New Ownership
An iconic hospitality venue in Bilsborrow, known locally as Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, is expected to be taken over by new owners following its recent closure after nearly five decades of operation. The complex, which sits beside the Lancaster Canal, has long been a popular spot for visitors and residents alike, attracting people with its traditional thatched buildings and scenic canal-side setting.
Administrators appointed to manage the site are in advanced discussions with Bowland Inns & Hotels Ltd, the operator of James’ Places, a well-known hospitality group with several venues across northwest England. If the deal goes ahead, the business could be revived and brought back into use under the new operator.
Guy’s Thatched Hamlet includes a range of facilities such as taverns, restaurants, function rooms, accommodation cottages and event spaces, making it a versatile destination for food, drink and leisure. The site has traditionally hosted weddings, parties, community events and its popular annual Oyster Festival, drawing visitors from across the region.
The planned sale and potential reopening of the complex offers hope for the future of the historic venue and could preserve its role as a key attraction in the local tourism and hospitality scene.
