Five people taken to hospital and 21 treated after Heathrow Airport incident
Five people have been taken to hospital and 21 others were treated at the scene following an incident at Heathrow Airport earlier today.
The London Ambulance Service said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, and cared for 21 patients. Five patients were taken to hospital. The ambulance service was stood down from the scene at 10.58am.”
Police confirmed the incident was neither terrorism-related nor a protest. They later said that “a form of pepper spray” had been used on people by a group of men.
A “significant incident” was declared at around 8.40am, prompting a full deployment of emergency services.
Heathrow Airport released a statement on X saying: “Our teams are currently responding to an incident involving the emergency services in the Terminal 3 multi-storey car park. Passengers are advised to allow extra time when travelling to the airport and to check with their airline for any queries.”
The incident has caused major disruption around the airport, with emergency services remaining at the scene. More updates are expected.
