Young Bartender Wins Lake District Cocktail Champion Title

A young bartender has been named cocktail champion by the Lake District Hotels Association after a competitive final that showcased some of the region’s finest hospitality talent.

Ollie George, aged 19, who works at the Linthwaite House Hotel, claimed the top prize after delivering a standout performance in the final round of the competition. The event brought together skilled bartenders from leading hotels across the Lake District.

The competition followed a series of training sessions and masterclasses designed to sharpen participants’ skills and creativity. In the final, contestants were challenged to produce a unique cocktail inspired by the theme Autumn in the Lakes.

Seven finalists competed, each presenting original creations that reflected both seasonal inspiration and modern cocktail trends. Judges praised the high standard of entries and the level of innovation on display throughout the event.

Ollie’s winning drink featured a distinctive blend of flavours that impressed judges with its originality, balance, and presentation. His ability to combine creativity with technical skill ultimately secured him the title.

As part of his prize, he will enjoy a two night trip to Manchester, where he will have the opportunity to explore the city’s cocktail scene and gain further inspiration for his career.

Originally from Cornwall, Ollie recently moved to the Lake District and is now looking to build a future in the hospitality industry, with this achievement marking an important step forward.
