Workington Town Ladies Secure Dominant Victory To Seal Home Play Off Place
Workington Town Ladies delivered another commanding performance as they cruised to a 48-4 victory over Leigh Miners Rangers at the Fibrus Community Stadium, guaranteeing themselves a home fixture in the end of season top four play offs.
Town entered the match without Lauren Coulson, club captain Beth Adams, and Meagan Byers, but new signings Lexi Hodgson and Lauren Oates made immediate positive contributions on their debuts. The pair settled quickly into the team and helped maintain Workington's impressive form as they continued their push towards the play offs.
The home side opened the scoring through Josie Scrimgour, with Leonie Bragg adding the conversion. The contest briefly became heated midway through the second half when both teams were reduced to 12 players following an altercation. However, Workington quickly regained their composure and continued to control the game, finishing with an emphatic victory that underlined their strength heading into the closing stages of the season.
Bethani Fearns was named Player Of The Match after an exceptional individual performance that included powerful running, creative attacking play, and two tries.
