Work begins on 114 new homes in Carlisle housing development

14 Apr 2026 Work begins on 114 new homes in Carlisle housing development

Work has officially begun on a new residential development in Carlisle that will provide 114 much-needed homes for local residents.

The project is being delivered on land at Burgh Road and marks the start of construction following planning approval and preparatory works on site.

The development will include a mix of housing types, with 68 homes designated for social rent and 46 properties available through shared ownership. The scheme is designed to support local housing demand and increase access to affordable homeownership options in the area.

Developers say the project will help families and individuals remain within their communities by providing high-quality, energy-efficient homes tailored to local need.

The site will also feature modern infrastructure, including green spaces and improved layout planning aimed at creating a sustainable neighbourhood environment.

The project forms part of wider efforts to address housing shortages in Carlisle and support long-term regeneration in the city.

Construction is now underway, with phased delivery expected over the coming years as the development progresses toward completion.
