Windermere School Appoints New Head as Leadership Changes Take Effect

Windermere, Lake District Windermere School has appointed Jessica Sheldrick as its new head, the school has announced.
Mrs Sheldrick is set to take up the role this summer and will lead the school into its next phase of development. Her appointment follows an international search and a rigorous selection process conducted by the board of governors.
Sheldrick joins Windermere School from Rishworth School in West Yorkshire, where she spent 24 years, most recently serving as head. Her extensive experience includes academic leadership, pastoral care, boarding oversight, safeguarding and whole-school strategic planning.
The board highlighted Mrs Sheldrick’s alignment with the school’s values as a key factor in her selection. According to Peter Hogan, chair of governors, her leadership philosophy emphasises academic excellence alongside adventurous learning and strong care for pupils, reflecting the ethos of Windermere School.
Sheldrick will succeed Frank Thompson, who joined the school in 2023 and will retire at the end of the current academic year.
