Wigton Move to Top of West Cumbria Mixed Triples League.
Wigton have taken control of the West Cumbria Mixed Triples League following a strong 6-3 win against Harris Park B in the latest round of fixtures. The result moved them to the top of the standings after three matches played this season.
Former league leaders Cleator Moor dropped to third place after suffering their first defeat of the campaign, losing 7-2 at home to Whitehaven A. The victory lifted Whitehaven A into second position, level on points with Cleator Moor but ahead on match performance.
Elsewhere across the league, Egremont secured a convincing 7-2 victory over Vulcan Park A, while Seascale edged past Workington A with a narrow 5.5-3.5 success. Workington B produced one of the standout performances of the week, recording a dominant 9-0 victory over Whitehaven B.
Seaton also enjoyed a strong outing, defeating Vulcan Park B 9-0, while Harris Park A claimed a 6-3 win against Croft in another competitive fixture.
Following the latest round of matches, Wigton lead the table with 21 points from three games. Whitehaven A and Cleator Moor both sit on 18 points, while Workington A and Workington B remain close behind as the competition begins to intensify early in the season.
In the West Cumbria Fours League, Whitehaven A continued their dominant form by securing their third maximum victory in four matches with a comprehensive 7-0 win away at Maryport. The league leaders have dropped points only once so far this season against their own B team.
Other results in the Fours League saw Workington A defeat Seaton 7-0, Fitz Park beat Harris Park 7-0, and Workington B edge Vulcan Park 5-2. Whitehaven B narrowly lost 4-3 to Cleator Moor in another closely contested match.
