Wagon Pull Challenge Set to Raise Funds for Charities

04 May 2026 Wagon Pull Challenge Set to Raise Funds for Charities

Plans are underway for a major charity wagon pull event in Cumbria, with organisers appealing for volunteers to take part in the physically demanding challenge.

Kevin Kirkby and Andrew Woodhouse are behind the initiative, which will mark their 26th vehicle-pulling event. The challenge is scheduled to take place on October 4 and will see a team of 78 participants attempt to pull an 11.5-ton wagon over a distance of around 10.5 miles.

The route will begin at Devil’s Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale and finish at Busk Lane in Sedbergh, testing both endurance and teamwork.

Funds raised from the event will be shared between several charities, including Samaritans, Cancer Research, and the Rawthey Project, which supports veterans facing difficult circumstances.

Organisers are now encouraging volunteers to sign up and be part of the challenge, which aims not only to raise money but also to bring the community together for a worthwhile cause.
