Ulverston Mayor Condemns Anti-Israel Graffiti, Community Left Shocked
The mayor of Ulverston has spoken out after anti-Israel graffiti was discovered across the town centre, saying the incident has left the local community “shocked and shaken.”
Graffiti linked to the Israel-Palestine conflict was sprayed at several locations in Ulverston, including buildings and premises in busy areas such as Brogden Street and New Market Street. Police have launched an investigation into the vandalism, which is being treated as a hate-related incident.
In response, the town’s mayor condemned the graffiti, stressing that messages of hate and division have no place in the community. Local leaders and residents have expressed concern that such acts risk damaging community harmony in the traditionally peaceful market town.
Authorities confirmed that multiple properties were targeted during the incident, and officers are appealing for information from the public to help identify those responsible.
Council representatives and police have urged residents to report any suspicious activity, emphasising the importance of standing together against hate crime and vandalism.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected as inquiries continue.
