Two Youths Arrested After Police Officers Assaulted in Workington

Two youths have been arrested after two police officers were assaulted in Workington, Cumbria, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred on Friday night when officers from Allerdale Police were out on patrol addressing reports of antisocial behaviour in the town. During the call-out, the two officers were assaulted by youths at the scene.
The suspects were arrested by police and have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
In response to the disturbance, a dispersal order was put in place on Saturday. Under this order, five youths were given notices instructing them to leave the town centre immediately.
Police say that three of the youths breached their dispersal notices, which is an offence, and officers are dealing with those breaches separately.
Allerdale Police have stated that enhanced patrols are ongoing in the area due to continued concerns about youth-related crime and antisocial behaviour in parts of Workington.
