Two Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Crashes Near Carlisle
A man and a woman have been arrested after a vehicle stolen in north Cumbria was later involved in a collision near Carlisle, with police appealing for witnesses and footage that could help their enquiries.
Cumbria Police were called at around 4.25am on August 27 following a report that a vehicle had been stolen from Orton Grange Park in Orton Grange, near Carlisle. Officers subsequently began making enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the theft.
During their enquiries, officers discovered that five other vehicles in the area had also been interfered with. Police said items had been stolen from those vehicles, adding to the offences being examined as part of the investigation.
A man and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident. Both were later released on bail while police enquiries continue.
Police believe the stolen vehicle travelled from Orton Grange Park through Orton before becoming involved in a collision just outside Great Orton. Officers are now seeking information that could help establish its movements.
The route between the locations is of particular interest to officers as they continue to piece together what happened after the vehicle was reported stolen. Members of the public who were in the area during the relevant period may have seen the vehicle or other activity connected with the incident.
