TV star Guy Martin banned from driving after speeding offences

26 Apr 2026 TV star Guy Martin banned from driving after speeding offences

Guy Martin, the well-known TV presenter and former motorcycle racer who has appeared on BBC and Channel 4 programmes has been banned from driving for six months after committing multiple speeding offences.

The court heard that the 44-year-old was caught speeding on two separate occasions while riding his motorbike, including travelling at 46mph in a 40mph zone and 78mph in a 50mph roadworks zone. These incidents occurred on roads in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Both offences added penalty points to his driving record, taking him to a total of 12 points, which automatically triggers a driving disqualification under UK law.

Martin, who is known for his extreme speed challenges in the Channel 4 series “Speed with Guy Martin”, admitted the offences and accepted the resulting ban. He also received a financial penalty including fines and court costs.

He is widely recognised for his career as a road racer, mechanic, and TV personality, often involved in high-speed engineering and record attempts, making the case particularly notable given his professional background.

The case highlights how UK law applies strict penalties for repeated speeding, even for public figures with experience in high-performance driving and racing.
