27 Mar 2026 Tributes Paid to Man Killed in South Cumbria Road Crash

Tributes have been paid to a man who lost his life following a road traffic collision in South Cumbria earlier this month.

Leonard Kitavi, aged 53, died after a single-vehicle crash on the A591 shortly after 1pm on March 12. Emergency services attended the scene, but he sadly could not be saved.

In a heartfelt statement, his family described him as a devoted husband, father, and friend whose warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met. They said he had a unique ability to make people feel welcome and valued, and would be deeply missed by all who knew him.

They added that his memory would live on through the love he shared and the many lives he touched, expressing gratitude for the time they had with him.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward, quoting the relevant incident reference.
