Train services disrupted between Sellafield and Corkickle after power failure

09 Apr 2026 Train services disrupted between Sellafield and Corkickle after power failure

Train services between Sellafield and Cork ickle were brought to a halt following a sudden power failure that cut electricity supply to the line, causing major disruption for passengers.

The incident led to a full suspension of services along the affected section, with all lines blocked and trains unable to operate. Rail authorities confirmed that engineers were deployed to the site to investigate the fault and work on restoring power as quickly as possible.

As a result of the disruption, rail operators introduced replacement bus services to help passengers complete their journeys. However, travellers were warned that these alternative arrangements could significantly increase journey times.

Ticket restrictions were temporarily lifted, allowing passengers to use alternative routes and services at no extra cost while the disruption remained in place.

Passengers were advised to check for updates before travelling, as services and replacement arrangements could change at short notice depending on the progress of repair work.

Rail officials apologised for the inconvenience caused and said efforts were ongoing to restore normal service as soon as possible.
