Tour de Furness Riders Pedal Through Furness to Raise Thousands for St Mary's Hospice
Hundreds of cyclists of all ages and abilities turned out for this year's Tour de Furness in a powerful display of community spirit. The annual charity ride once again brought supporters together to raise vital funds for St Mary's Hospice. Participants tackled scenic routes across the Furness peninsula while backing an important local cause.
The popular cycling event offered a choice of several routes, allowing experienced riders and newcomers alike to take part. Families, friends and cycling enthusiasts enjoyed a day of challenging rides through some of Cumbria's most picturesque countryside. Every mile completed helped generate much needed support for hospice care and other charitable organisations. Organisers praised the enthusiasm shown by riders, volunteers and supporters throughout the event.
St Mary's Hospice remains the principal beneficiary of the fundraiser, providing specialist care and support for people with life limiting illnesses across Furness and the South Lakes. Riders also had the opportunity to raise money for charities of their own choice, extending the event's positive impact across the community. The Tour de Furness has become one of the area's best known annual charity sporting events. It continues to attract strong public backing year after year.
The event was made possible through the efforts of the Rotary Club of Furness alongside a large team of dedicated volunteers. Marshals, first aid teams and community groups worked throughout the day to ensure riders completed their chosen routes safely. The welcoming atmosphere at the start and finish added to the occasion's popularity. Organisers thanked everyone who contributed to another successful edition of the charity ride.
For many participants, the day was about far more than cycling. It was an opportunity to honour loved ones, support local healthcare services and strengthen community connections. With fundraising continuing after the event, organisers hope the final total will provide another valuable boost for hospice services.
The Tour de Furness has grown into a cherished tradition, attracting returning riders as well as first time participants every year. Its combination of challenging routes, spectacular scenery and charitable purpose continues to make it one of the region's standout community events. Organisers are already looking ahead to building on this year's success and encouraging even more cyclists to take part in future editions.
