Third Person Charged As Man Appears In Court Over Nottingham Police Officer Shooting

06 Nov 2026 Third Person Charged As Man Appears In Court Over Nottingham Police Officer Shooting

A third person has appeared in court after being charged in connection with the shooting of a police officer in Nottingham city centre.

The defendant, Lea Anderson, aged 31, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 5 November. Anderson, of Commercial Road in Nottingham, faces three firearms-related charges following an investigation into the incident involving PC Lee Lane. The charges include possession of a firearm to endanger life, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possession of a prohibited weapon. Anderson was remanded into custody following the hearing and is expected to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 November.

The incident happened shortly before 4.50am on Sunday, 18 October, at a bus stop on Angel Row in Nottingham city centre. PC Lee Lane had approached two people who were reportedly acting suspiciously when he sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. The shooting prompted a major police investigation, with officers examining the circumstances surrounding the firearm and the events leading up to the incident. The injured officer has remained in hospital receiving treatment since the shooting.

Anderson's court appearance follows the charging of two other people in connection with the same investigation. The latest development means three individuals have now been charged over the incident, although they face different allegations relating to the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police investigations have continued since the incident, with detectives examining the involvement of several people and the circumstances in which the firearm was allegedly handled and used.

One of the earlier defendants is Aisha Zaman, aged 27, of Collison Street in Hyson Green, Nottingham. She was charged on 22 October with possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of that firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. Her case followed an investigation into the weapon allegedly involved in the incident. Zaman appeared before Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 23 October and was remanded into custody ahead of a further hearing at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 November.

The court previously heard details concerning the alleged handling of the firearm before the police officer was shot. Prosecutors told magistrates that Zaman was alleged to have taken the weapon from a man before placing it inside her jacket. The firearm reportedly fell to the ground and discharged after PC Lane arrived at Angel Row. These details formed part of the prosecution's account of the events, although the allegations will need to be considered through the court process.

A second defendant, Jahmal Ruddock-Senior, aged 35, of Gaul Street in Bulwell, Nottingham, was charged with assisting an offender. He appeared before Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 26 October and was also remanded into custody. His case is connected to the wider investigation into the shooting, and he is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 November alongside Zaman. The allegations against each defendant remain separate and will be dealt with through the appropriate legal proceedings.

Detectives have also made several arrests as part of their continuing enquiries. On 3 November, officers arrested a 31-year-old man in the Scunthorpe area of Lincolnshire on suspicion of possession of a firearm to endanger life and grievous bodily harm. He remained in police custody while officers investigated his alleged involvement. Nottinghamshire Police also confirmed that five additional people were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender during the same period.

Those five additional suspects included two men aged 31 and 24 and three women aged 38, 38 and 21. Their arrests formed part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the possible involvement of other individuals. The arrests brought further attention to the scale of the police operation, although an arrest does not mean that a person has been charged or found guilty of an offence. Police enquiries have continued to establish the roles, if any, of those involved.

Other people had previously been arrested in connection with the investigation and released on bail while further enquiries were carried out. These included two men aged 24 and 30 and two women aged 25 and 21, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. A 33-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and assisting an offender. The police have continued examining the available evidence before determining whether further charges are appropriate.

PC Lane's condition remains an important concern following the shooting. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that he was still in hospital receiving treatment after sustaining the gunshot wound. The investigation has therefore involved both the circumstances of the incident and the ongoing impact on the injured officer. The fact that he remains under hospital care has also underlined the seriousness of the incident, which took place in a busy part of Nottingham city centre during the early hours of the morning.

Angel Row became the focus of a significant police response following the shooting on 18 October. Investigators worked at the scene to gather evidence and establish what had happened when the officer approached the two individuals at the bus stop. The incident has since led to multiple arrests and court proceedings involving people suspected of different offences. Detectives have continued to examine potential links between the individuals and the firearm, with the investigation extending beyond the initial arrests made in October.

The next significant court date is scheduled for 20 November, when Anderson, Zaman and Ruddock-Senior are expected to appear at Nottingham Crown Court. Their cases will allow the court to consider the allegations and determine the next stages of the legal proceedings. Further developments may follow as police continue their investigation and assess evidence gathered since the shooting. All three defendants are entitled to a fair legal process, and none should be regarded as guilty unless proven so in court.

Nottinghamshire Police have continued to appeal for information that could assist their investigation. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the force, quoting incident number 106 of 18 October 2026. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers. Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the involvement of those arrested, while the injured officer remains in hospital receiving treatment.
