Teacher Sentenced to Prison Again for Sex Crimes Against Boys

Teacher Sentenced to Prison Again for Sex Crimes Against Boys

A former teacher who was first jailed in 2022 for sexually abusing two boys has been sentenced to prison again for a second set of offences against four other boys. The man, identified as Paul Stuart Adams, worked at schools in West Cumbria and also had past roles with the Theatre Royal, the BBC and his own music business in the area.

Almost four years ago Adams received a seven year prison term for historical abuse. He was once regarded as a trusted member of the local community. However Carlisle Crown Court heard that Adams sexually abused one boy by giving him alcohol and paying him to undress and forced himself on a second boy.

After media coverage of the first case, four more men came forward with allegations that Adams had abused them in separate incidents over many years. All four of these victims are now adults. A jury convicted Adams in January of indecent assault, sexual assault and paying a child for sexual services.

In sentencing the court emphasised that Adams manipulated situations to be alone with the boys under the guise of his professional and personal interests. Emotional impact statements from the victims described long lasting trauma and the deep betrayal they felt from someone who had been trusted to care for and educate children.

Adams was ordered to serve an additional seven years in prison for these new offences and remains on the sex offenders register indefinitely. Police praised the victims for coming forward and stressed that support is available for survivors of historical abuse.
