Superb Away Performance as Workington Comets Extend Winning Form
Workington Comets delivered a superb performance away from home as they strengthened their position in the BSN Series with a confident victory over Scunthorpe.
Riding at the Eddie Wright Raceway, the Comets not only defended an eight-point advantage from the first leg but extended it further with a 47–43 win on the night. The result secured a comfortable aggregate success and underlined one of their strongest away performances since returning to the Championship.
The team showed impressive depth, recording 11 heat winners and consistently picking up race advantages throughout the meeting. Despite fielding a disrupted line-up with guest riders and rider replacement used, the side performed well above expectations.
Jonas Jeppesen led from the front with a standout 13-point haul, recovering strongly after a difficult opening heat. Tate Zischke matched that score with an equally impressive four race wins, while skipper Troy Batchelor added valuable double-figure support with 10 points.
New reserve Max Perry also impressed on his debut, contributing solid points and gaining valuable experience as part of the winning effort. Guest rider Jake Mulford played a key role as well, including a crucial heat victory that helped secure a 5–1 advantage alongside Perry.
The Comets took control early after briefly falling behind in the opening stages, before steadily building momentum and never relinquishing their lead for the remainder of the match.
The result sees Workington continue their strong start to the campaign, with confidence growing as they prepare for their next set of fixtures.
