Speed Camera Vans To Operate Across Cumbria On Key Roads
Road safety camera vans will operate across several parts of Cumbria, with police targeting a number of major routes and locations as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and encourage motorists to comply with speed limits.
The camera vans will be deployed on the A689 between Carlisle and Nenthead, covering a long section of road connecting communities across the county. Police will also operate cameras on the A686 between Alston and Penrith as part of the enforcement activity.
Brampton is among the locations included in the planned enforcement areas. Drivers travelling through the town can therefore expect road safety camera activity as police continue to monitor speeds and encourage safer driving behaviour.
Houghton has also been identified as another location where Cumbria Police camera vans will operate. Motorists travelling through the area are being reminded that enforcement can take place at different locations and that drivers should remain aware of posted speed limits.
The M6 is included in the enforcement programme, with camera vans scheduled to operate between junctions 35 and 38. The section covers a significant stretch of one of the county’s busiest routes and is used by large numbers of local and long distance motorists.
The A65 between Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal is another route included in the operation. The road carries traffic between Cumbria and neighbouring areas and will be monitored as part of the police road safety programme.
Camera enforcement will also take place on the A683 between Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale. Drivers using the route are being reminded to maintain appropriate speeds and follow the restrictions applying to the road.
The A6 between Kendal and Penrith is also listed among the areas where police road safety camera vans will be operating. The route is an important north south connection through the county and is regularly used by commuters, residents and visitors.
