Speed Camera Vans Operating Across Cumbria Today.

23 Aug 2026 Speed Camera Vans Operating Across Cumbria Today.

Cumbria Police's road safety camera vans are operating across several major routes in the county today, Sunday, August 23.

The locations include busy roads connecting towns and popular destinations, with motorists being reminded to follow speed limits and drive responsibly. Camera vans are scheduled to operate on the A591 between Keswick and Kendal, covering one of the main routes through the Lake District. The road is frequently used by residents, commuters and visitors travelling between the two popular destinations.

Another location being monitored today is the A6 south of Kendal, where drivers can expect road safety camera enforcement. The A6 is an important route through South Cumbria and is regularly used by both local and longer-distance traffic. The A65 between Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale is also included in today's enforcement locations. Drivers using the route are being reminded that exceeding the posted speed limit can result in enforcement action.

Further camera van activity is planned on the A686 between Penrith and Alston, another important route connecting communities across the county. The road passes through rural areas where changes in road conditions and visibility can require drivers to take particular care.

The A689 between Brampton and Nenthead is also among the roads listed for enforcement today. The route provides an important connection across the northern part of Cumbria and will be monitored by road safety officers. Camera vans will also be operating on the A683 between Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, covering another route frequently used by residents and visitors travelling through the county.

In addition, enforcement activity is scheduled at Culgaith and on the A66 east from Penrith. The A66 is a major east-west route and carries significant amounts of local, tourist and commercial traffic. The use of mobile camera vans forms part of wider road safety efforts by Cumbria Police, with enforcement intended to discourage motorists from exceeding speed limits and reduce the risk of collisions.

Motorists are being encouraged to remain aware of changing speed limits, particularly when travelling through rural areas, built-up locations and sections where temporary restrictions may be in place. Today's enforcement covers a wide geographical area, meaning drivers travelling across different parts of Cumbria may encounter a road safety camera van during their journey.

The locations also include several popular Lake District routes, where roads can become particularly busy with tourists, cyclists, walkers and other vulnerable road users during the summer. Drivers are therefore being urged to slow down, remain alert and follow the posted speed limits throughout their journeys.

The camera van locations for Sunday, August 23, are the A591 between Keswick and Kendal, A6 south of Kendal, A65 between Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale, A686 between Penrith and Alston, A689 between Brampton and Nenthead, A683 between Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, Culgaith and the A66 east from Penrith.
