Speed Camera Vans Operating Across Cumbria Today

04 Apr 2026 Speed Camera Vans Operating Across Cumbria Today

Cumbria Police have confirmed that road safety camera vans will be deployed at a number of locations across the county today, Friday April 3, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce speeding and improve road safety.

The mobile units will be operating on several major routes, including the A685 between Tebay and Brough, the A591 between Kendal and Keswick, the A66 west of Penrith, the A65 between Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal, and the A683 between Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale. Additional patrols are also planned in the Kendal area, Garrigill, on the A689 between Carlisle and Nenthead, the A686 between Alston and Penrith, on the M6 between junctions 38 and 36, and around Penrith.

Police say the mobile camera vans are part of a routine programme designed to encourage compliance with speed limits and help reduce collisions on Cumbria’s roads.

Motorists are urged to observe posted speed limits and drive safely, particularly on rural and high-speed sections of the network where enforcement units are active.
