Speed Camera Vans Deployed Across Cumbria as Police Step Up Road Safety Checks

24 Apr 2026 Speed Camera Vans Deployed Across Cumbria as Police Step Up Road Safety Checks

Drivers travelling through Cumbria today are being urged to stick to speed limits as police deploy mobile speed camera vans across a number of busy roads.

According to Cumbria Police, enforcement vehicles will be positioned on key routes including the A590 between Greenodd and Brettargh Holt, as well as the A65 between Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce speeding-related incidents across the county. Authorities regularly rotate camera van locations to cover a wide range of areas, targeting routes known for high traffic volumes or previous collisions.

Police are reminding motorists that the purpose of the enforcement is not to penalise drivers, but to encourage safer driving behaviour and reduce the risk of accidents. Drivers are advised to remain alert, observe speed limits, and plan journeys accordingly.
