14 Jun 2026 South Cumbrian School Earns Positive Ofsted Rating Following Inspection

A South Cumbrian secondary school has been commended by education inspectors after a recent Ofsted inspection found that high standards are being maintained across the institution.

Inspectors visited Dallam School in Milnthorpe on April 28 as part of a routine assessment process. Their findings concluded that the school continues to provide a strong educational environment for pupils and remains committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.

The inspection highlighted the school's positive atmosphere, with pupils described as respectful, motivated, and engaged in their studies. Inspectors also praised the relationships between staff and students, noting that a supportive learning environment contributes to both academic achievement and personal development.

School leaders were recognised for their commitment to maintaining standards and ensuring that pupils receive a broad and balanced education. Inspectors found that the curriculum is designed to help students succeed academically while also supporting their wider development and future aspirations.

The report further acknowledged the efforts made by teachers and staff to create an inclusive environment where students feel safe and encouraged to achieve their potential. Inspectors noted that pupils generally demonstrate positive behaviour and show enthusiasm for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Headteacher Steven Henneberry welcomed the outcome of the inspection, describing it as recognition of the hard work and dedication shown by staff, students, governors, and the wider school community. The positive findings are expected to reinforce the school's reputation within South Cumbria.

The latest inspection outcome provides further encouragement for the school as it continues to focus on educational excellence and the wellbeing of its pupils. School leaders said they remain committed to building on current successes and ensuring students receive the best possible opportunities for the future.
