South Cumbrian Care Home Raises £804 For Two Local Charities
A South Cumbrian care home has raised £804.10 for two local charities through its annual strawberry fayre held in its gardens.
The Old Vicarage in Allithwaite opened its gardens to members of the public for the annual fundraising event, continuing a long running tradition that brings together residents, visitors and supporters from the surrounding community. The fayre raised a total of £804.10, with the proceeds being divided between St Mary’s Hospice and Grange and District Lions Club.
The event was held over a two hour period and featured a range of fundraising activities designed to generate support for the two chosen causes. Donations also contributed to the final amount, helping the annual gathering reach a total of more than £800 for local charitable work.
An additional contribution came from The Lidos, the band that performed during the event. The musicians donated £50 towards the fundraising total, adding to the money generated through the activities and other donations received during the fayre.
The Old Vicarage owner Kamal Siddiqi presented £454.10 from the fundraising effort to Richard Cogger, area fundraising manager at St Mary’s Hospice. The payment represents a significant share of the total amount raised during the community event.
The remaining funds will go to Grange and District Lions Club, which has played a longstanding role in supporting the strawberry fayre. The organisation has worked in partnership with The Old Vicarage to organise the event for more than two decades.
The continued partnership between the care home and the Lions Club has helped establish the strawberry fayre as an annual fundraising occasion. Its longevity reflects the sustained involvement of the organisation and the local community in supporting charitable causes through the event.
Mr Siddiqi said The Old Vicarage was fortunate to have a close knit local community that continues to support the strawberry fayre each year. He highlighted the contribution made by local people to the fundraising effort and the benefits their support provides to worthy local charities.
He also expressed his appreciation for the raffle prizes provided by local businesses. Their contributions formed part of the support surrounding the event and helped the organisers continue the fundraising tradition for another year.
The fundraising total will provide support to two organisations serving the local area, with St Mary’s Hospice receiving a specific donation from the proceeds and the remaining funds going towards the work of Grange and District Lions Club.
The £804.10 raised demonstrates the contribution that can be generated through a community event supported by residents, local organisations, businesses and performers. Alongside the money raised through activities, individual donations and the contribution from The Lidos helped build the final total.
The strawberry fayre also continues a partnership that has lasted for more than 20 years between The Old Vicarage and Grange and District Lions Club. The long running relationship has kept the event connected to local fundraising efforts and charitable support.
