Power outages hit Cumbria after Storm Dave
Several areas in Cumbria experienced power cuts following the impact of Storm Dave, which brought severe weather conditions across parts of northern England.
Energy provider SP Electricity North West confirmed that multiple locations were affected overnight as strong winds battered the region. Engineers have been deployed to restore services, though repair times may vary depending on weather conditions.
Among the worst-affected areas were Crosthwaite and Lyth in South Lakeland, Setmurthy in Allerdale, Ulverston, Crosby Ravensworth, Colton, and parts of South Lakes and Holme Abbey.
Most outages were reported between late Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday, with restoration for many areas expected by Sunday evening.
The disruption followed an amber weather warning issued for strong winds as Storm Dave moved across the UK, causing damage and service interruptions in several regions.
Authorities had earlier warned that powerful gusts could bring down trees, scatter debris, disrupt travel, and lead to power outages, urging residents to take precautions.
Storm Dave has also caused wider disruption across the UK and Ireland, including travel delays and additional power losses, as emergency crews continue recovery efforts.
